Volunteers help get the Smith Garden ready for the Open Garden Days in April and May. In the fall, they help close it down for winter.

Ron Mapes and Ray Clack work in the lower east area of the garden which is being developed for future beds.

‘Double Winner’

Spring Garden Clean-up

Getting the garden ready for visitors this spring included weeding, hacking out the English Ivy, picking up fallen limbs, setting up the tent, getting plants out for the Plant Sale Area and adding the price tags, pruning, chipping all the branches, and raking the trails and graveling paths.

These chores were tackled with enthusiasm.

Noyo Brave’is one of Cecil Smith’s prize winners. [Noyo Chief x degronianum ssp yakushimanum 'Koichiro Wada'] leaves are glossy, deep green, with sparse orange-colored indumentum. Leaves retained 3 years.
